Three weeks ago, I found a threat to my reputation on my Twitter feed. As a precaution, I addressed this with some of the friends I have in Virtual Ability in Second Life, and was promptly assured that my reputation is safe with them. This is the benefit of having friends whose impression of someone is determined by their actions. May each and every one of them - may each and every one of you, readers of my blog - have friends only of similar quality.
Although I do not follow any religion, I do know that the Christian(?) Bible describes a challenge Jesus gave a mob that was eager to execute a woman caught in adultery.
John 8:7
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."
So, here's what I hope you'll take away from this admittedly very short post. If you're in good standing with the people whose opinions you care about and you hear from someone that they have plans to ruin your reputation, then do not panic. Believe in your friends. If they really are as good as you believe them to be, then they will trust what they know about you more than they will trust the words of someone who, to them, is a stranger.
As always, I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post. If you have any questions or comments, then please let me know in the form down below.
Please fill in all three fields or the form will not be sent. Your comment will not appear right away.
