Last Friday, I found an entry in my Facebook Memories from way back in 2013, that I had made before starting my blog. I got the idea of making a blog post based on it. So, here goes!
Some years ago already, I had done quite a bit of work for a friend. His educational path involved a lot of typing in my native Dutch, and since he's not a native speaker (even after having lived in The Netherlands for a few years), he asked me to check his work time and again. Little did I know how much work it would entail, but I still liked it.
When all of this was behind us, my friend wanted to reward me for the work I had done. He was so eager to get me something, that I could only send him my Amazon Wish List. He was kind enough to get me an iPad. This was my first step into the world of Apple.
At the time, I was using Windows 7 on my desktop computer, so I ended up needing iCloud for Windows. Once installed though, iCloud for Windows slurped up my calendar and contacts. My first reaction was to try and get them back, but then I realized that I was faced with the prospect of needing a new desktop computer soon, and I was not looking forward to Windows 8, which would undoubtedly be installed on it. So, I treated myself to an iMac.
The iMac I got ended up being rather lazy as far as cooling itself was concerned, which forced me to have it sent off for repair a few times. So, I later switched to a Mac Pro. It works well, but in light of all the things I've been hearing about Apple and Linux, should I make the jump to Linux? Since even my Windows days I have installed Linux a few times, both into a partition and as a virtual machine, and I've watched quite a few videos about Linux. So, I do believe I know what I'm doing.
Those of you who believe in it, may want to wish me luck!
